Dr. David Dorfman
Maxilo-Facial, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Doctor David Dorfman is the Chief of Surgery at Jaw Surgery Los Angeles.
Dr. Dorfman is one of an elite few surgeons world-wide, double board-certified in both Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. In addition he has advanced training in Craniofacial-facial Surgery from the prestigious Stanford University Medical Center, Department of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Dorfman was recruited by Dr. Schendel, Professor Emeritus, Stanford Medical Center, to succeed him and to serve as Chief of Surgery at Jaw Surgery LA due to his unique qualifications. Dr. Schendel served as Chief of Surgery at Jaw Surgery LA from 2006-2015
After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychobiology and his degree in Dentistry from the University of California, Los Angeles Dr. Dorfman enrolled at the University of California, Davis, and received his medical degree with distinction. His academic achievements earned him a spot in the highly competitive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty program at the University of California, San Francisco.
He continued his education at the University of California, San Francisco where he excelled in General Surgery training in their highly heralded surgical program.
Dr. Dorfman was then invited to complete his comprehensive plastic surgery certification at U.C. Davis, where he underwent training in the most advanced reconstructive and cosmetic surgical procedures available.
Dr. Dorfman completed additional advanced surgical training in craniofacial surgery in the prestigious Division of Plastic Surgery at Stanford University.

Dr. Stephen Schendel

Dr. Schendel created Jaw Surgery LA in 2007 with Dr. Jacobson. Dr. Schendel is a Plastic, Cranial Facial, and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Professor Emeritus, and former Chairman of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at Stanford University.
Dr. Schendel recruited Dr. David Dorfman to succeed him as Director and Chief of Surgery at Jaw Surgery Los Angeles due to Dr. Dorfman’s talent, experience, and dual board certification in Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery.
Dr. C. Philip Amoils
PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGEON/E.N.T. SPECIALIST
C. Philip Amoils, MD is a board certified Ear, Nose & Throat Otolaryngologist (ENT Specialist) at Med Center LA, and Chief of Surgery at Sinus Center LA here in Pacific Palisades.
Dr. Amoils is considered to be one of the most experienced ENT surgeons in the world for sinus surgery and obstructive sleep apnea. In Los Angeles alone, he has helped many thousands of patients over more than 25 years of outstanding work.
Dr. Amoils is a luminary for robotic guided sinus surgery for Entellus at Sinus Center LA. Doctors throughout the USA and around the world can attend his courses and watch him work in his onsite AAAHC Surgical Center. He also provides educational seminars in his onsite teaching center and demonstrates protocols he has developed for sinus congestion, snoring, mouth breathing, nasal obstruction and obstructive sleep apnea using minimally invasive procedures and surgery.
Dr. Amoils graduated from University of the Witwatersrand in 1987 and was invited to study and conduct research in hearing and balance at University of San Francisco Medical Center. He completed his residency and certification in Otorhinolaryngology at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center in 1990.
As a fourth generation physician, you could say Dr. Amoils was born with medicine in his blood. The tradition continues as Dr. Amoils’ niece is currently studying otorhinolaryngology at Stanford University.
Dr. Amoils is board certified in Otolaryngology, ENT and Plastic Surgery, by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He has a special interest and 30 years of experience in Allergy.
Dr. Keith Hurvitz
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Hurvitz was recruited by Dr. David Dorfman, Chief of Surgery at Jaw Surgery Los Angeles, to join Jaw Surgery LA and Pacific Palisades Plastic Surgery Center, due to Dr. Hurvitz’s extensive experience and training in Plastic Surgery and Rhinoplasty.
Dr. Hurvitz serves as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and is a native of Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and graduated with Honors. He then moved across town to complete his medical education at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. He graduated from medical school with Highest Distinction at the top of his class, and earned the prestigious Dean’s Scholar award. He was then admitted into the coveted Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society.
After completing medical school, he was accepted into the highly sought after Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency program at USC. This five-year surgical residency program exposed him to the multiple facets of facial surgery.
Dr. Hurvitz is dual certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He serves part-time as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California in Irvine, Department of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Alpha Omega Medical Honor Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Ian Lehrer
Dr. Ian Lehrer completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center during which in addition to his specialty training, he completed rotations in plastic surgery, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, surgical and medical intensive care units, anesthesiology, and general surgery. He was also redeployed to care for critically ill patients during the New York COVID-19 pandemic. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. His clinical interests include orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery) and facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Lehrer maintains hospital privileges at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying all that Southern California offers.
The use of advanced technology, 3D imaging and precision microscopes with illumination allows Dr. Jacobson an unprecedented accuracy.
Dr. Richard Jacobson

Dr. Jacobson began Jaw Surgery Los Angeles in 2007 with Dr. Stephen Schendel, Professor Emeritus Stanford University and retired Chief of Plastic Surgery, Stanford University Medical School, Department of Plastic Surgery. It began as a boutique practice focusing on the art of facial reconstructive, orthognathic surgery and aesthetic rejuvenation.
Soon, word spread about our unique approach, and FCLA rapidly grew into a full service multi-disciplinary Plastic Surgery Center, including surgical and non-surgical procedures and treatments.
Dr. Schendel recruited Dr. David Dorfman from Stanford University, Department of Plastic Surgery to succeed him as the Medical Director and Chief of Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery due to his dual board certification and extensive experience in Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery).
Dr. Jacobson serves as Chief of Orthodontics and works with the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and Otorhinolaryngologists at Jaw Surgery LA, Sinus Center LA, and Orthodontic Center LA, on patients in need of jaw surgery or obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Jacobson graduated with a Masters in Oral Biology from UCLA and a specialty Certification in Orthodontics from UCLA. He has been in private practice in Pacific Palisades for over 30 years and has personally analyzed and treated more than 12,000 patients.
Dr. Jacobson continues to bring state of the art technology, lasers and imaging to Jaw Surgery Los Angeles based upon the philosophy that surgery is as much a science as it is an art.
